Do I have an Australian Visa or am I already living in Australia?
What is my biggest challenge with finding employment in Australia?
I have recently graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science(Environment). I live in New Zealand. My partner is an experienced carpenter/builder and we both wish to relocate to Western Australia from New Zealand. I am unsure whether I should put a lot of effort into finding employment from New Zealand or wait until we move. My partner should be able to find employnment fairly easily as his trade is on the skilled job shortage list. I understand that there is an over supply of Environmental Scientists in Australia. Perhaps they are on the second tier of the skilled workers shortage list. I would be interested to know please. I am willing to do some voluntary work or work for a comapny at a reduced rate until I am up to speed with the local conditions and laws etc. What do you think of this possibilty please? Is it worth having my CV professionally verified? I have spoken with one recruitment agency - Skye. Person I spoke to said that the employers were looking for employees who can write clear technical reports. Luckily this is my area of expertise. I also heard that recruitments agencies worked for the employer and not for the prospective employee more or less similiar to real estate. Also that you need to apply for every job that they advertise in your field and that they are not likely to look back on their data bases and retrieve your resume/cv for prosepective employers in an ongoing basis. How true this is i am not sure.
