14 Jan 08 – current Grindrod Logistics Furniture Division Internal Sales Consultant
Key Responsibilities:
My main responsibilities in this role are to help clients needing quotes on transport, costing delivery notes and controlling monthly totals and internal branch charges. This includes:
• Doing quotes for clients who phones in • Arranging transport upon acceptance of quotes according to the client’s needs • Following up after deliveries • Managing combined large moves for interior designers • Assisting with customer queries • Costing of delivery notes as per client’s rate structures for accounts to invoice • Keeping control of monthly distribution totals on spreadsheets • Creating spreadsheets for internal branch charges • Creating spreadsheets for monthly totals of our key clients • Getting leads on potential new clients for our external sales consultant I also assist our operations department in their planning, queries, writing paperwork and working out volumes and totals for loads to see if it is feasible to send the load.
11 Jun 07 – 14 Jan 08 Grindrod Logistics Furniture Division Admin Assistant
Key Responsibilities:
The key functions of this role were to match proof of delivery notes to invoices, finding POD’s for clients, making copies, filing and creating spreadsheets. This includes:
• Looking for needed POD’s by clients and sending them • Checking in POD’s to make sure they are signed and all paperwork is attached • Correcting the POD’s received that are not complete • Matching the complete POD’s with their invoices • Making copies of all matched paperwork for us and for the clients • Sending the clients invoices to them either by post or with our driver • Creating spreadsheets for all invoices we send out to be signed by clients • Filing our copies of the invoices and POD’s • Creating spreadsheets for all outstanding POD’s at the end of every month • Try to find reasons for each POD outstanding • Creating banking sheets for all cheque payments I also assisted the receptionist once a week by sitting in for her during tea times and lunch time. I helped the data capturer with the invoicing at month ends when we are very busy.
15 Mar 07 – 6 Jun 07 (Temporary work) Jay Works Fabricator and Fitter
Key Responsibilities:
My key functions in this role were to fabricate and fit items for panel vans according to development layouts received. This included:
• Reading drawings received about the layout of the panel vans • Manufacturing the required products according to the client’s needs (Items varied from cupboards, bottle holders, toolboxes, drawers or what ever the client need. They were made of either aluminium, wood, steel or stainless steel) • Cutting with guillotines • Using power tools (grinders, drills, jigsaws, etc.) • Welding (CO2) • Collecting vans from clients and delivering them after completion
5 Feb 07 – 14 Mar 07 (Contract) SA Airport Operator
Key Responsibilities:
I worked on a contract as an operator repairing inside cupboards of an airplane that came in for a service. This includes:
• Taking out cupboards from the airplane • Stripping the cupboards • Doing repairs to the cupboards according to what is needed • Making use of cutting machines, guillotines, sanding machines, moulding machines and sand blasting machines • Installing the cupboards in the airplane once all repairs have been done
