I think there are a few factors involved for me -

1. My age is a problem.

2. Since our arrival in 2009 we've been working in the bush so we've not had too much exposure to populated Australia other than holidays.

Structural Engineer

Taking on the structural design, detailing and cost estimation of a number of complex projects that exceeding US$ 70 million in value. The projects were mostly new development of multistory residential buildings, industrial, tunneling system and infrastructures.

Responsibilities

 

• Led a team of mid- level engineers, tradesmen and sub-contractors to accomplish day-to-day design analysis for multistory residential buildings, bridge decks and columns, tunnels, water tanks and industrial foundations in accordance to American Design Code.

• Took on the design of potable steel frame, ensured the capacity of its members, and bolted connections to support several distributed loading cases and resist wind and seismic loads.

• Carried out the analysis of pre-stressed slabs and beams.

• Participated in the design of stormwater drainage and produced trenches detailed drawings.
