Project Description
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is anadvanced automatic identification (Auto ID) technology that uses radiofrequency signals to identify tagged items. An RFID tag contains acircuit that can store data. This data may be pre-encoded or can be encoded inthe field. The tags come in a variety of shapes and sizes. To read a tag thereader sends out radio frequency waves (using attached antennas). This RF fieldpowers and charges the tags, which are tuned to receive radio waves. The tagsuse this power to modulate the carrier signal. The reader interprets themodulated signal and converts the data to a format for computer storage. Thecomputer application translates the data into an user understandable format. The capabilities of RFID readerproducts, and new features introduced in software/firmware releases, requireequally good demonstration applications to clearly communicate how thesefeatures are used and why they are meaningful in real-world applications. Session One & Power Session are - PC based fixed reader tools for entry-level users, emphasizing ease-of-use, while presenting RFID in an interesting, memorable, playful way. It should also give the user access to basic RFID concepts (TXPower, Antenna control, RSSI, GPIO, Sessions, and Tag Population (Q)) to enabletrial and experimentation, without requiring any setup or configuration. Thiswould also be the tool to show-off significant new features in an intuitive,easy-to-understand interface. For example, tag motion detection could be shownby color coding the tags to distinguish stationery and moving tags. On a PCwith .NET framework installed (very common), Session One “installation” shouldbe as simple as unzipping to a directory and launching the SessionOne.exeapplication. User connects a fixed reader that supports the Motorola LLRPsoftware platform to their PC via Ethernet. User connects a handheld readerthat supports the Motorola LLRP software platform to their PC via WiFi.
Rapid Read is a handheld application would be a tool that wouldallow Sales Executives and Sales Forceto quickly create customer appropriate demonstrations because of its featureset. Features would include:
Ø Reading in of formatted data to control Ø How information is displayed Ø Which tags to read Ø Number of tags read Ø Tag translation to user readable data Ø Displaying of Metadata Ø Displaying of User data Ø Trigger modes Ø Press/Release to Start/Stop RFID Ø Press to Start/Press again to Stop RFID Ø Barcode scanning Ø Tag encoding Ø Tag Locator functionality Ø RSSI
Datawedge is a plug-in which will add RFID Capabilities to theData Wedge Standard Application. Doing RFID validation in a DataWedge is different than doing Barcodeor MSR validation because RFID is not deterministic (one laser scan producesone barcode, one swipe produce on MSR data, one inventory does not produce onetag). DataWedge for FX7400 will be supported by using IP output plug-in.
Validating the Data Wedgeapplication after adding RFIDcapabilities would involve multiple verifications like as mentioned below-
The User Interface designwill be in line with DataWedge 3.0 design guidelines
Datawedge standard plug-inswill work with RFID plug-in as per Datawedge defined standard behavior. ADF Rulesand Clipboard functionality is a standard DataWedge feature and will be testedalong with RFID plug-in. ADF rules could be used to format and manipulatecaptured data; the clipboard functionality could be utilized for mass importinginto an application. This would enable a developer to not have to write thecontrols and manage the reader but still utilize an additional data capturedevice.RFIDplug-in will provide option for reading tag memory banks and there will be nooption for performing any other access operations on tags as part of thisplug-inRFIDPlug-in will have configuration option for tag population, Session, Transmitpower, Duplicate Tag elimination and memory bank selection for reading memorybank data. BizTalk DSPI Provider is a RFID Interface for MicrosoftBiztalk RFID Platform. Provider is a Interface forsoftware developers who will create applications that utilize the MicrosoftBizTalk RFID RFID platform, and the MotorolaFX 7400 RFID reader. By using the DSPI Providervalidating the RFID Functionality.
RHOElements which is a successor of Pocket Browser is a browserframework for providing the web access of RFID Functionality to the end user.By using the RHOElements browser validating the RFID Functionality.
Firmware testing for the below mentioned products. Ø Motorola XRSeries Fixed Readers Ø Motorola FX9500Fixed Readers(4 ports and 8 ports). Ø Motorola FX7400Fixed Readers (2 ports and 4 ports). Ø MotorolaMC3090/MC3190 Handheld Reader Ø Motorola MC9090/MC9100 Handheld Reader Responsibilities
