I'm a firefighter/paramedic with a mix of structural and wildland fire experience. I have been a paramedic for right at six years now. On the EMS side of things, I have done emergency response in very rural mountainous areas to critcal care inter-facility transfers. On the fire side of things I have four summers of wildland firefighting, from helicopter and engine fire crews to being on a hotshot crew to fuels work. With structural firefighting I have done mop-up, to defensive fire tactics to chimmey fires etc.

Slung cargo up to fire line, backhaul off fire line, and crew shuttles. * Manned remote helispots on larger fires to coordinate logistical support. Helitack personnel on the ground coordinate with the pilot via radio to make sure cargo is dropped off were needed. * If not needed for helitack duties than helitack personnel are then sent to the fire line. This can be digging line for direct fire operations. Provides patient care and drives ambulance when needed to. Calm patients and families with professional demeanor, providing practical information. Notify admitting hospitals of patient condition, treatments, and arrival times. Monitor patient throughout transport and corrected anything that needed to be done during the course of transport. (Paramedic continued) Administer pain relief via IV line, and interpreted EKG rhythm shown on the lifepak 12 monitor printed these strips out and handed a copy to hospital ER staff. Monitored IV medication drips to administer medications and fluids and monitor patients on ventilators to help assist breathing if needed during transport. • Administer medications orally and intravenously, interpret electrocardiograms (EKGs), perform basic to advanced airway adjuncts up to endotracheal intubations if needed, and use lifepak 12 monitors and other complex equipment. • Write up all case notes and report patient's history, condition and treatment to relevant hospital staff. and/or law enforcement representatives. • Ensure that emergency care equipments is functioning properly and replace supplies in the ambulance used for transporting patients. • Interpret requirements regarding definition of persons authorized to receive or view patient information according to HIPAA regulations, and protection against unauthorized view of data. • Foster and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with diverse range of colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals and the public. Westcare ambulance is no longer a functioning ambulance agency as of June 30th, 2010. The interim director contact information is correct though. Administered advance life support and basic life support care at emergency scene in accordance with standing protocols per our medical director. • Assessed injuries and made diagnoses, giving emergency medical treatment to patients who are ill or have life-threatening conditions. • Stabilized patients as necessary. Applied emergency care per protocols and procedures for emergency transport including safe Stat operations. • Effectively communicated with dispatchers or hospital ER personnel to provide information about situation, condition of patient and what has been done care wise for patient or to receive instructions for further treatment. • Develop curriculum and manage standardized First Responder Training Program, providing instruction to EMT’s regarding emergency response. • Apply splints, dress wounds, and started IV’s when possible for medication administration. Provided timely and effective response to all emergencies. While maintaining strict adherence to fire fighting and EMS standard operating procedures and regulations.
