Jerome Chevriver, general manager of Carrefour's north and west regions, said the company is well prepared for the reopening of the store, which is located in the Urumqi International Grand Bazaar. The riot did not affect Carrefour's two other Urumqi stores. Plans to open two more stores in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region are moving forward, according to the report. Carrefour entered the Chinese market in 1995. As of March 2009, the French retailer had more than 130 stores in China. On Jun. 30, 2008, the company said it planned to add 20 to 25 outlets in China annually within the next few years, eyeing a bigger share in the Chinese market.
