Hi, I read through the advice you gave on what should/shouldn't go in a CV, but I'm a bit confused on the nationality advice. You mention you should not include details about requiring sponsorship, which is okay, but you also mention not to include your nationality. Surely your contact details (address and telephone number) will hint as to what your nationality is/where you are? Is there a suggestion on how to get around that? Or am I just asking a totally stupid question? Thanks. Anthony

Hi Anthony, There is no such thing as a stupid question in my opinion, so thank you for asking. From our experience, it has been favourable to include your nationality if you are from a Commonwealth country, due to the strong ties that you have with Australia. So in your case, it would not be an issue if you included your nationality on your CV. Had you have been from a non-Commonwealth country, however, we recommend not including your nationality so that the employer can review the CV without any predispositions. You are correct, your address and telepone number with country code will give away where a person is from, in which case the person may decide to omit these details and just include an email address until further contact details are requested. I hope this answers your question sufficiently, and if not, please do not hesitate to let me know. Cheers, Nadine

Hi Dada, Just like you, Australian companies need to qualify for sponsorship too. You can find details here: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled-workers/sbs/eligibility-employer.htm When we search for suitable employers, we have our Registered Australian Migration Agent do the assessment once an offer is made to our clients, to ensure that they qualify for sponsoring an overseas national. I hope this answers your question. If not, do not hesitate to let us know. Cheers, Nadine
